Ir jau zināms, ka Jurijs Aņikejevs nepiedalīsies šī gada pasaules čempionātā. Arī šodien kļuva zināms, ka pasaules čempionātā spēlēs tikai 30 dalībnieki (no iespējamiem 48 dalībniekiem) + 6 sponsora vietas, no kuriem gandrīz puse – 13 – ir nīderlandieši.

Dalībnieku saraksts.

Hello everyone!

I decided to make a small comment regarding my refusal to participate in the 2025 World Championship in Cameroon, telling about the reasons that prompted me to make such a decision.

The first, of course, is the war! Maybe from other countries it seems that nothing special is happening, but I want to assure everyone that the situation is very difficult. russia continues its senseless aggression, from which many people suffer, all this directly affects all Ukrainians, including athletes. In some respects, the situation has significantly worsened…

The second important reason is that the host country is not an easy one to travel to. On the one hand, it is very good that the FMJD is expanding the geography of tournaments, but on the other hand, there are a number of objective difficulties in participating in tournaments in Africa. Together with the first reason, a trip to such a distant country becomes very difficult.

As I noticed, out of the originally planned 48 participants, so far only 30 have been recruited + 6 local players. For some reason, there is a total boycott of the World Championship from Asia.

It seems to me that it is time for some serious strategic changes in the conduct of FMJD tournaments.

Firstly, it seems to me that it is time to reduce the time control for classical tournaments, we can start with 1 hour +30 seconds per move for the entire game and then gradually reduce it to 45 minutes + 15 seconds.

Also, 50% of all official FMJD tournaments should be held with a shortened time control (rapid and blitz) over 2-3 days.

Something like 3-4 qualifying tournaments during the year and then a final for the top 10. It is much easier to gather people willing to play 2-3 days on the weekend than to provide 48 people for 3 weeks.

FMJD should move in the rhythm of the modern accelerating world.

Peace and goodness to all!

17th FMJD World Champion, Anikieiev Iurii (Ukraine).

Šeit arī labs Āfrikas spēlētāja Judion Ouedraogo komentārs:

Good luck to the world champion GMI ANIKEEV! With all due respect; As long as Ukrainians look at Africa as a distant land, I, an African, will look at Ukraine from my distant position! Long live the CAMEROON 2025 world championship! May the party be beautiful and may the best man win!
